In 2006, Chris Hill received the AIGA Fellow Award for his lifetime of achievement in the design community and arts education. He taught at Southwest Texas State University—before the name was changed to Texas State University—for fifteen years where he found the inspiration to organize and host the nationally recognized annual creative conference, Creative Summit.
Creative Summit is an annual conference and design competition held in the Spring at Texas State University. Jurors and speakers include accomplished design professionals diverse creative practices. You may have heard Creatiev Summit mentioned in previous episodes. Particularly, Christian Helms sighted the gathering as one of the events that lead to him moving to Texas to set up shop.
HILL’s work has been featured in every major American design competition, as well as many foreign competitions, and is included in the permanent collections of the Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty Commemorative Exhibit, The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Artsin Munich, Germany, and the Library of Congress American Graphic Art Collection in Washington, D.C.
