Episode 011: Andrew Blauvelt
Episode 11 features my talk with Andrew Blauvelt, the Design Director at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our conversation covers the development of Andrew’s career as a designer from his beginnings in pre-law up to his role at the Walker.
Andrew Blauvelt has been the design director of the Walker Art Center since 1998, and he is now the museum’s Design director and Curator. At the Walker he curates design and architecture exhibitions, and developed related programs while providing creative guidance for the in-house design studio.
Design work from the Walker’s in-house studio has been exhibited, published, and praised across the globe. Its Walker Without Walls identity won state and national AIGA awards and a Design Distinction Award from ID magazine’s 2005 Annual Design Review. Then, Blauvelt oversaw the design of the Wakler’s most recent identity system, Walker Expanded, which uses innovative digital font technology to generate a wide range of branding applications.
The list of Andrew Blauvelt’s achievements is impressive and extensive. If you would like to learn more, please take a look at his bio here.
