Episode 004: Rick Valicenti
Episode 4 features my conversation with Rick Valicenti, Founder and Creative Director of Chicago's Thirst. Rick is an innovative and influential designer who has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to design and his development or the profession. In 2011, the White House honored Valicenti with the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Communication Design, and in 2006 he received the AIGA Medal—the highest honor of the graphic design profession.
I consider this episode a Makeready Moment in both the development tot this project and my own career. I consider this episode a kind of Makeready moment in the development of this project and my career. Makeready moments are milestones along our paths at which we realize something has changed in our fundamental approach or understanding. In these moments we have learned something valuable, or we have have a kind of epiphany about where we should go from here. After my conversation with Rick Valicenti my design heart and the heart of Makeready grew three sizes.
Rick takes his business very personally, and I was honored to have to opportunity to absorb some of his passion for design. You can see what I am talking about at Thirst.
Thank you for listening, and thank you for your support!
